"At the New Zealand Marina and Boatyard Conference in September, Brook McRae from Commercial Dive Specialist Services (CDS) updated marina managers not only about the Rehabitat chamber, which he describes as a scalable, cost effective way of treating exotic caulerpa infestations of any volume, but also on RDC (Rapid Data Collection Unit) which the company has developed and claims it to enable divers and underwater cameras to maintain GPS contact and therefore collect up to ten times as much seabed data as traditional methods.
The system’s accurate location tracking enables a team to come back to the same spot and treat an incursion immediately, enables connectivity underwater, for divers and remote-operated vehicles, and can be used for marine pest surveillance and any marina surveys."
